Why homemade honey mustard?

While store-bought may taste great, most brands don’t use real food ingredients. Instead, these sauces are typically loaded with added sodium, refined sugar, vegetable oils and artificial ingredients. This recipe takes the guesswork out of knowing if your sauce is a healthy addition to your meal or nothing more than a real-food imposter.

Some ways to use your honey mustard dressing:

  • As a spread on salmon fillets (or mahi mahi)
  • Brushed on chicken
  • As a topping for hamburgers
  • As a dip for homemade chicken tenders
  • Brushed on BBQ corn
  • As a delicious glaze on meatloaf or baked ham
  • To top a chicken, mozzarella and avocado melt (pickled onions and tomato slices are a fun addition)
  • On an apple cheddar panini sandwich
  • To dress Chicken Cordon Bleu
  • As a dip for apples or pretzels
  • As a base for homemade pizza
  • To top salads
  • Broccoli salad dressing
  • On a cheeseboard

Instructions
  1. The quantities listed above are approximate. Each time we make honey mustard, it comes out slightly different. Try to experiment without measuring every ingredient. The more you get accustomed to your taste preferences and the quantities that go along with them, the easier and faster cooking gets! You'll be reaching for ingredients and adding a little here and a little there in no time!
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the mustard and honey. Start out with a minimal amount of honey (about 1/4 cup). Taste test! If you like your honey mustard a little sweeter, gradually add more honey.
  3. Just like the honey, gradually add vinegar, EVOO, lemon juice and salt. Start small, you can always add a little more!
  4. Use immediately or store in the an airtight container in the refrigerator.
  5. Enjoy!
