Encouraging words can be powerful and are often what we need to get us through a difficult time.
Recently, in the midst of a difficult situation where I thought I might crumble, I received a text from my husband: “You’ve got this.” Three simple but encouraging words that shifted my entire mindset.
I mulled over his words for a few seconds and began silently repeating them to myself, “I’ve got this. I’ve got this. I’ve got this.” At first, the words seemed empty. But as I continued to repeat them, I began to connect with what those three simple words meant.
“I’ve got this” meant I didn’t need to be scared.
“I’ve got this” allowed me to see that my goals were achievable.
“I’ve got this” gave me the motivation and confidence necessary to take steps forward.
Those three simple words gave me the strength I needed to think beyond my road block and move into a more positive head space. They didn’t change anything about the situation in the moment, but they gave me courage and hope to hold on…
I COULD keep pushing forward and everything was going to be okay.
Whether encouraging ourselves or others...
God has given us the tools, the knowledge and the resources to overcome. Encouraging words (whether from someone we care about or spoken softly to ourselves) can spark and ignite energy for anyone, especially when we’re feeling discouraged or lack motivation.
- Sometimes we just need to be reminded that we’re not as hopeless or desperate as we think.
- Some days, we just need a “pick me up” when life seems overwhelming, stressful, lonely or bigger than we are.
- Other times, we need the motivation to eat healthy, exercise, laugh or just be content.
Whether you need to hear these words or you get to share them with someone special, I’d like to bless you with this hope: “You’ve got this!” Together, “We’ve got this…” We’re never alone because “God’s got us.” Amen.
Remember those three simple words and your outlook on life will change forever.
