Description
If you’re looking for a great grab-and-go breakfast, or something healthier than box of cereal, try this Homemade Muesli. It can be made ahead with ingredients you probably already have on hand, and best of all, there’s no cooking required. Have fun and be creative with the dried fruits and nuts you choose. It’s not only easy, it’s highly nutritious, filling and affordable!
Ingredients
Muesli Mix: (make ahead)
- 1/2 cup dried cranberries, blueberries or cherries (no added sugar or oil)
- 1/2 cup currants or raisins
- 2 cups roasted sliced or chopped almonds, pecans or walnuts (no added oil)
- 1/2 cup pumpkin seeds
- 1/2 cup sunflower seeds
- 1 cup flax seeds
When Serving:
- 1/4 cup rolled oats
- 1/4 cup milk, almond milk or plain Greek yogurt

Muesli Mix: (make ahead)
- In a large bowl combine and mix dried fruit, nuts, and seeds. If necessary, chop almonds in a food processor prior to mixing. Store muesli in an airtight container. Store at room temperature or in the fridge.
When Serving: (cold, hot or with yogurt)
- When serving, combine 1/4 cup of the muesli mix with 1/4 cup oats.
- Have it cold: For cold cereal, add 1/4 cup muesli to 1/2 cup of milk in a large bowl. Allow muesli to stand for 8-10 minutes to soften the oats before eating OR place in the fridge overnight and eat in the morning.
- Have it hot: For hot cereal, add 1/4 cup muesli to 1/2 cup of water or milk in a large bowl. Microwave on high for 1-3 minutes, depending on intensity of your microwave. Stir after 1 minute and microwave an additional 1-2 minutes, if necessary.
- Have it with yogurt: If serving with yogurt, add 1/4 cup muesli to 1/2 cup of yogurt in a large bowl. Allow muesli to stand for 8-10 minutes to soften the oats before eating OR place in the fridge overnight and eat in the morning.
