Four Barre Exercises that Will Tone Your Lower Body

The Workout

This is a fun Barre-inspired routine that targets your glutes, hamstrings, quadriceps, inner thighs and outer thighs. It’s low impact and the exercises can easily be done at home.

Areas of Focus

  • Butt and thighs

What You'll Need

  • Chair, countertop, wall or something to hold onto

While you don’t need any equipment for this routine, you’ll want to find something to hold onto to use for balance, depending on how strong your coordination is. You can bump up the toning component of these exercises by wearing ankle weights.

The Four Moves

  • V Squat
  • Reverse Lunge
  • Hamstring Curl
  • Lateral Leg Lift

How to Use This Routine

You’ll quickly run through four Barre exercises without any rest. You will do 30 seconds of work on each side of the body. It’s very important for each of the exercises that you use a slow and controlled motion. It’s all about maintaining control over your own body in order to use smooth and slow motions. A warm up and cool down are not included, but both are recommended.
