- Total Time: 5 minutes
- Yield: 2 1x
Description
These make-ahead smoothie packs are an easy way to prep smoothies in advance. You’ll save time and take the guesswork out of what to put into the blender during hectic mornings throughout the week.
Ingredients
Berry Bliss Smoothie: (yields one smoothie pack)
- 4 whole strawberries, frozen
- 1/4 teaspoon blueberries, frozen
- 1/2 large banana, frozen
- 1 cup spinach
- 1 cup milk or almond milk
- 1 teaspoon cacao powder
Detoxifying Mango Ginger Smoothie: (yields one smoothie pack)
- 1/2 cup mango, frozen
- 4 large strawberries, frozen
- 1/2 small banana, frozen
- 1/2 teaspoon fresh ginger, coarsely chopped
- 1 cup spinach
- 1 cup almond milk, unsweetened
Optional Add-ins When Ready to Blend:
- 1 tablespoon chia seeds
- 1/2 teaspoon hemp seeds
Instructions
- If using fresh fruit, flash freeze it in a single layer on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. Once the fruit is flash frozen (about 1 hour), then portion it out. This prevents your smoothie packs from becoming a big block of frozen fruits and veggies. If you’re using pre-frozen produce, skip this step.
- Place ingredients for each individual smoothie flavor, except for the liquid, in plastic bags. We recommend packing your fruits first and your greens last. Work quickly so your produce doesn’t defrost. Press any air out of the bag and seal. Pro tip: You can use a straw to suck the air out.
- Label and date your packs so you know what flavor smoothie you’re grabbing out of the freezer each morning.
- Place bags in the freezer until ready to use.
- To make the smoothie, pour the freezer smoothie pack into a high-speed blender. Add specified liquid or liquid of choice and any dry ingredients, such as chia seeds and hemp seeds. Blend until creamy, adding additional liquid if necessary.
